on my chickpea wrap
sorry it's blurry, but it shows the good "bite" it has
INGREDIENTS:
1 tin of kidney beans, drained and rinsed
1/8t curry powder
1/8t beef style stock (optional)
1/4t onion powder
1t herbs
1t liquid smoke
1/4t beet powder (optional)
1/4c tapioca
optional - 1/2c oats - I have not tried this, but it should yield a better texture.
1 garlic clove- minced
You may want to add chilli to taste (I dislike strong flavours)
1/4t miso (optional)
5 olives- optional
METHOD:
1- Mix with a stick blender.
2- Press with fingers or a cup into a non stick pan to fit. It will be a dough like paste.
3- Cook on medium-low, with the lid on, until a crust forms, and flip. (about 5-10 minutes). Flip and cook another 5 minutes or once being to get golden in areas.
4- Quarter and store in fridge for 3-4 days. (you could also use a crumpet ring to cut out circle slices of ham, chop up the left overs and use it in a salad)
Taste - Very tasty, and definitely reminiscent of meat. Do not eat it warm, flavours are better once cooled.
Texture- Once cooled it has a good bite and "strength" to it. It is a bit bland so adjust flavouring to your tastes. (I prefer it bland)
